We are cyclical beings - Women especially have a bone deep knowing of this. Working with the moon’s cyclical medicine is the process of aligning with the moon to better trust our own cyclicality, the cyclicity of life and to consciously work with the alchemy of change.

Alchemy is change, transformation and is a cyclical process. One alchemical process we can work with involves:

descending downward

going inward

rising upward

leaning outward

There are cycles all around, within and beyond us. Like the cycles found in the natural world, both the moon and stories follow cyclical patterns; the waning -waxing moon and the descending + ascending, losing + finding arc of many myths and traditional stories. Stories can be rich guiding blueprints to our own life stories. These processes are allies, symbolic guides and reflective mirrors inviting us into deeper experiences of meaning, nurturance & co-creation with our lives.

The Somatic piece comes in as we recognize our cyclicity, we can, to the degree we are able to, engage consciously, as a participant, in relationship with the processes ( descending, waning, ascending, waxing, and the liminal space between ) that are essential and inevitable to life, it is part of the deal for change/transformation. Somatic practices can help us stay with our bodies, (for some a slippery slope in itself) and help keep our nervous systems more regulated as we move through the cycles of life.

There’s a lot to explore, unpack and restore. The braiding of these energies is often non-linear, subjective, intuitive, decolonizing from many of the conditioned ‘norms’ we grew up with. Working with the energies of the moon is a beautiful way to practice and play all this juicy wisdom of life.

MOON MEDICINE

New Moon: Dream, Intend, Visualize (2-3 days before and after new moon)

  • What desires, shifts, changes and new experience do you want to draw into your life (personal, professional, etc)  in the next lunar cycle?

  • What changes do you want to nurture?

  • How do you want to feel in your body in the next moon cycle.

  • New Moon energy isn’t about trying to take any action yet. You’re just engaging, visualizing the intention/s, expressing and feeling them in your body.

Waxing Moon: Action, Unfolding & Self Care (@ 2 weeks - the crescent, quarter & gibbous phases)

  • Notice your process for taking action? Write about it.

  • What gets in the way of you taking action?

  • What new insights or prioritized values might help you shift into more fluid patterns of action?

  • What tools and supports are you using to help maintain/regulate your nervous system.

Full Moon:: Reflect & Give Thanks (2-3 days after full moon)

  • What did you welcome into your life in the past two weeks?

  • Look back at new moon intentions, what energy did you draw in?

  • What did you nurture into your life since the new moon?

  • In this full moon threshold explore this –“ I am feeling _____.”

  • What are you grateful for in relation with your new moon intention, full moon energies and/or life in general?

Waning Moon: Release & Rest (@10-11 days til new moon, gibbous, quarter, crescent phases)

  • What do your physical, emotional, intellectual & spiritual bodies need to settle, soften, release & rest? Can you make some small consistent space to allow this?

  • What gets in the way of you prioritizing rest?

  • What do you want to share about your journey this lunar cycle?

  • What do you notice as you rest from your intentions & actions?

  • In the days just before the New Moon, give yourself permission to rest, release, seek silence as much as possible? How can you support yourself in this?
