A YEAR & A DAY the Cycles of Women's Lives
A Year & A Day
A podcast + via Substack & many other podcast platforms.
A Year & A Day began in December 2023 as 13 months journey sharing stories from my decades long repertoire of being an oral storyteller. In March 2025 I began the second cycle of A Year & A Day with the intention of exploring the cycles of women’s lives - Maiden, Mother, Mage/Matriarch & Crone (more below) though story/telling and through juicy collaboration with some of the women folx I hold in deepest regard. We are all in for a soul nourishing, spell-binding, shift-shaping feast!
Each month starting this month via my podcast, I will tell a story intentionally leaning into one of these cyclical seasons/phases. Then later in the month offer an emergent collaboration with some seriously brilliant women folx. And repeat - 13 times!
All are welcome here - women identifying folx, those identifying as non-binary, male identifying folx.
As always my work is emergent, experimental and relatively raw on the tech side of things.
As always this is free offering, it is a labor of love, truth, beauty & integrity and a celebration of my 30 years on the path of oral storyteller. AND please consider supporting my work by becoming a paid subscriber. You can also support my work through Patreon.

THE WILD WITHIN
THE WILD WITHIN is an experiential & immersive day retreat for women identifying folx who are called to come together on a summer’s day, in the wild boreal forest of northern Wisconsin exploring the paradox of tending the wild inside (the inner experience) during the high solar days of summer through somatic practices, storytelling, creativity & just being.
The primary energies & intention for the day are slowing down, embodied listening, being alone/together, resting into the cycle of life, reflection & regeneration. We will work with story of The Handless Maiden, from the Grimm Brother’s collection of Fairy Tales.
Essentially the day is designed as a mid-summer pause to listen to the wild within through our bodies in the woods, with story, alone & together.
A light mid day meal is included. Guided and facilitated Tracy Chipman with guest facilitation by Yazmin Bowers.
Can you slow your body, quiet the mind to listen to the wild within?
How might your soul be fed by slowing down to listen, to be changed & allied by story in the alive vessel of your body, in a circle of women, resting and regenerating together?
* This day retreat is open to adult women/femme identifying folx.
THOUGH THIS EXPERIENCE, YOU WILL:
- Move at the pace of the summer forest.
- Open yourself to hear, feel, see & know what you are ready to hear, feel, see & know.
- Allow yourself space to listen within and also experience joy & wonder in community.
- Truly rest into the sensorial experience pf your body in the forest.
- Journey with the powerful, regenerative tale - The Handless Maiden, reclaiming wild, cyclical aspects of yourself.
COST: $135 - be supported by other / $155 - general admission / $175 - supporting others
